Jeff and John meet during their time at Equinox. Experiencing corporate burnout firsthand, they began exploring alternative wellness therapies, particularly float therapy, and saw an opportunity to reimagine the modern recovery experience.

The first Pause Studio opens in Venice Beach, California, with a focus on float therapy. The neighborhood embraces the concept, and Pause quickly becomes a sought-after space for rest, reflection, and recovery.

Service offerings expand to include infrared saunas, IV drip therapy, cold plunges, LED light therapy, and more. Pause becomes one of the first in the space to introduce private contrast therapy suites, further establishing itself as a pioneer in integrated wellness and recovery.

The West Hollywood flagship officially opens, marking a new era for Pause. Amid the global shutdown, our studios become a safe haven for mental and physical well-being, offering space for self-care during a time of widespread uncertainty.

The South Bay location opens, extending Pause’s presence across Los Angeles and continuing to grow its loyal community of wellness seekers.

Pause enters the franchise space, awarding territories to mission-aligned partners across the country. Studio City and Brentwood also open, rounding out five company-owned studios in the LA area.

The first franchise studio opens in Newport Beach, followed by three more before year’s end, each one grounded in the same values that shaped the original Venice location.
